Description
Anhinga are all over Florida and down the gulf coast. I've seen them as far south as Costa Rica and most likely beyond. They are very similar to cormorants. 35 (90cm) inches long and with a wing span of 45 (114cm) inches. They "fish" with their body completely submerged and their wings folded tight against their bodies. This female has built her nest at eye level over dry land. Not a very safe place since they usually build their nests over water. Let’s hope that she lasts long enough to hatch her eggs. A file photo from my old Minolta.

Stellar shot of the Anhinga in top posing form, Dana. Almost looks sculptured. And, love the feather patterns. They may be all over Florida but I never heard of the species!
