Description

The little trapeze artist really hadn't meant to wander so far from the circus tent. It was all because of that mean old Mr. Reilly. Oh, he could really get her dander up. She just had to get away from him! And then she'd seen the old house on the hill. Why, it looked like so much fun! So spooky! What a great place to hide out! She'd heard there were monsters there, but she knew better. That was just a lot of hooey! But maybe there was buried treasure. Yeah, jewels and diamonds and stuff. Wouldn't that be rich? She just had to check it out. But now, as she stood there, with her itty bitty candle, pondering the strange writings on the wall, she began to have doubts. Grave doubts. Maybe, this wasn't such a good idea, after all. Maybe, it wasn't such a fun place, either.
