Description
From the backyard bird watch, these little Carolina Chickadees have to eat vigorously to keep their energy level and body temperature up to make it through the long winter nights. If they don't, they could freeze to death while sleeping in the fringed cold temperatures. They want generally eat on the feeders so they are constantly going back and forth from the feeder to the safety of a near by tree to eat. Causing them to burn up so much energy, they need a high fat content food through the winter months to help them survive.

Wonderful looking little creature. Great shot.
Wonderful shot. I love the display of the head and how you managed to capture details of the shape as well as the colors. My grandmother always used to hang out scraps of pork fat with millet for the smaller birds up in Michigan. I do not know though if Chickadees will take it though.
Beautiful shot of a beautiful bird.

What a sweet little bird! Our chickadees here are darker, but just as active with the same feeding pattern. It's a constant flurry of activity between the trees and the feeders!
