Description
All I know about this hornet is that it was dead. I placed it on the top of a wooden pole at eye level to get this shot. I was amazed by the sting - not one I would like to have penetrating my skin in anger!

Fantastic critter and capture!
This shot has a sting in the tail!! Nice one.
A handsome crittur although dead!
Hornets and any other members of the wasp family are immensely interesting, and thankfully I can say I've never been stung. It's interesting the pose this one assumed in death, and it's intriguing that the stinger was fully extended. What a find. Great capture.
Looks like some sort of parasitic worms breaking out of it's head very intriguing image
Excellent capture! the worst part of that stinger - no barbs! the can be like a machine gun when stinging you!
Ahhhh ... dead. Yes. I thought perhaps yoga. Some sort of sun salutation pose.
Yikes, scary stuff! But excellent capture!
Looks like the same specie i capture sitting on a yellow flower Clive. Superb capture.
Looks like he was contemplating his navel when he passed.
