Description
A few metres from my home there is this majestic tree, just in front of the traffic lights. In my opinion it's at its best in winter, with its bare frame against the sky. It looks a huge, naked giant dwarfing the buildings and the poplars around, but it's an optical illusion. Actually they are beyond the railway tracks, and can be seen only because there is a huge hole in the middle. The hole once was occupied by a number of tokens of urban decay, among them an abandoned brick warehouse, turned into a homeless shelter until a drug-addict girl was killed inside years ago, and the building was knocked down. Then the developers started reclaiming it, but at a snail pace because of the construction crisis. This image and its story made me think of the words by Yeats, one of the leaders of the Celtic Twilight.

Sandra, this is such a beautiful capture and your thoughts behind it really made for a uplifting experience. While some people would only look at this and see a tree, you look and see a reason to be inspired.
