Description
As illustrator usually I creates artworks for book covers or magazines on demand, but I long toyed with the idea to create illustrations of classic science fiction novels to put on the royalty free market, as usual for my spare production.
Here's the cover (the eighth of my "classic sci-fi series" - take a look to the other ones) of "At the Mountains of Madness", a novella H. P. Lovecraft, written in February/March 1931 and originally serialized in the February, March and April 1936 issues of Astounding Stories.

I can't remeber if I read that Lovecraft book or not, but I like your concept image so much: depicting a mind deviation so awesomely prone to detail. The reverse face is disturbing, the ancient symbols/alphabets connect that madness to the worst part of religion, superstition. There is the top seal marking "Providence" and a date links the image to Lovecraft. A letter from that other side... The front mouth springs out the terror of what eyes has seen: the Lovecraft gods were in fact evil, but not in the sense of cruelty, but in the sense of ugly stupidity, that was the core point in all his Chtulhu mithology...

A great take on Mythos imagery. Very syrreal, captures the madness that goes with many of H.P. Lovecrafts works.
Great work here Ive always wanted to try creating something of this style myself but afraid Im not up to that level yet Bravo and my hats off to ya for this one
