Description
The city of his enemies is in ruins and burning. But most of his companions are also dead, and the great wealth said to be had here could not be found. So now he heads home...alone...empty handed...and very weary of war.
Larger size is better...zoom for detail!
Thanks for taking a look and for your comments! You time and words are most appreciated! It becomes harder and harder for me to find the time to compose and render images...sometimes I feel like that weary warrior! But I do love it, and will continue to try to get at least one a week in the galleries. Thanks for your continued support!
Thanks also for the many comments and favs on my previous image "In Deeply":

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This work is so good! Congratulations!!!
Life has a way of taking up time .. a good thing, considering the altnernative (: Beautiful work, stunning scene, most excellently created!! I love the technique you used for this!
wow this is a great scene hugs
Outstanding!
Your attention to detail is superb! Makes the renders fantastic! This horse is wonderful... not to mention the whole image.
Wonderful. The pose, the face, the scars... GREAT!!! One of my FAVs
Beautiful composition, textures, posing and lighting, my friend. This is a very evocative piece. I can almost feel his 'bony weariness' from here, smell the smoke, hear the crackling of the fires, the groans of the injured and dying, the yelps of wild dogs feasting on the dead, the buzzing of the myriads of flies, and the scratchy scurrying of the scavenging rats. "All for nothing", it seems to sigh. Warm regards, from a cold, damp Glasgow, John.
Marvelous scene work!
All around beautiful. Lighting, textures, pov, posing. Excellent image.
This is breathtaking; worn, weary, bone-tired... A great piece, and I like the fact that you chose to set the lighting in warm tones. Gives me the impression and feel that with the destruction behind him there is a sun setting that can bring in more dangers for him and his mount to face. great work!
Impressive ! Very well rendered.
WOW!!! Dang buddy, was gone that long or did you kick your skills up to another level altogether??? This is outstanding. I'm going to have a blast catching up on all your works. Excellent work my friend.

Wow simply outstanding you have excelled yourself here. The detail is incredible, a very magnificent artwork and a lesson in superb rendering!! hugs Jane xx
I think my friend Dr. Carl said it all. I'll add I can even feel the exhaustion of the character and the horse after their big day of battle. Well done my friend. Geoff Woods.
Great image...!
out...FRIGG'n... standing!!!
I JUST LOVE THIS. THE DETAILS ARE FANTASTIC.
Excellent detail and expressions. The horse looks dazed and the warrior grim and weary. I love the detail on the horse and the shadows and light.
Very nice work
Excellent scene.. it's always nice to see a well-done male render and I love the world-weariness of his pose.. really nicely put together.
AWESOME! The detail on this is stunning; it looks hand-painted. Beautiful job!
