Description
This feedlot is located along Old Highway 80 in Buckeye, Arizona. When I came to Phoenix nearly 38 years ago, feedlots were still in Mesa and one in Phoenix. As agricultural land was retired and bought up by developers and new subdivisions were being built feedlots moved farther away from the developed areas.
This picture was taken on 17 January 2011.

Approximately one out of every six cows find photography more interesting than grass. An additional one in six appear to prefer aviation. Learning by observation leads to some very interesting conclusions! :P

@auntietk. Good oberservation Tara. Some years ago we did some investigation of ag land in the Upper San Pedro River. On one of the pastures were about 50 head of cattle. The moment we stepped onto the pasture all heads turned and watched us, ears sticking out. I felt like a teacher with a very attentive class.

A great capture of this feedlot. They are trying to bring this system of farming into New Zealand with only limited success as we still like our cows to be out grazing on grass.

@npauling. Cattle that is range fed or grazes on grass tastes a lot better than feedlot fed cattle. But it is all about making a fast buck. The profit margin of this kind of operation is a lot greater.
