Description
Hotel New York on the Wilhelmina Pier in Rotterdam is a hotel located in the former building of the board of the Holland America Line (HAL). Today it is surrounded by a lot of tall buildings which are about 150m in height. Not a really beautiful sight. On the other hand; the old hotel has not been demolished.
Innumerous emigrants and adventurers stood here on the quay in front leaving Europe for America. In not so long foregone decades they travelled for instance with the SS Rotterdam; one of the most beautiful large ocean liners of the HAL which can be visited nowadays in it's hometown.

Beautiful bright colors. It´s sad that this building has almost vanished completely because of those large buildings. BTW: I would have ´demolished´ the buoy in the foreground and cropped the photograph slightly.
I like the contrast from old to new.it is a common sight around Dallas
