Description
Margaret heard the faint zap of an inter-dimensional translation portal closing and knew Macali had returned. There was no reason to speak, no reason to move, no reason to defend. The Opae could not harm her, and whatever Macali had to say could wait forever as far as Margaret was concerned. Three months in Macali's company had not produced either friendship or animosity. They understood each other in a limited way. They were both weapons forged out of need, trained to the target. How ironic that they couldn't kill each other or even put a scratch on the other's armor. Something about the inter-dimensional vibration of their respective races allowed them to see and hear each other, but they couldn't actually touch. The concept of alien did not begin to describe their differences.

Happy New Year, everybody!!!
This image basically created itself - I started with something totally different, but each element I added led to the next, and before I knew it I was in a chamber with two predators from very different worlds, or possibly from different dimensions...
How they came to be in the chamber and whether they were allies or enemies, I had no idea. The visual image grew out of nothing, so I left it up to you, the readers, to add the details of the story and Joe (popeslattz) and Tara (auntietk) took up the challenge. I loved Joe's idea, but Tara's grabbed me, shook me by the ears and insisted that I continue with the story...
Posed in Poser 8, rendered in Vue 9 Infinite, post work and signature in Photoshop PS3. Sector 15 by Stonemason and Complicated Eve outfit from DAZ, Deus Machina by Oskarsson.

Fantastic scifi!!!
Great sci-fi scene! Happy New Year! ;o)
Great characters, scene and lighting. I think they're going to become gal pals and go shopping for cool leather accessories and weapons together. Later they're hang out at some extraterrestrial watering hole and make fun of the loser space cowboys.
Very cool sci-fi and lighting!!! Happy New Year to You and Yours, too!!!
WOW....What a wonderuful lighting my friend, a fabulous si fi here, congratulations!
fascinating sci-fi scene - great lighting!
I like the sun 'glare' look. Nice. Wonder if they will try to have each other for dinner. Only time, & Craig, will tell. ;)
The lighting certainly makes it.
Excellent work! Happy New Year!
First: Happy New year friend - your scene and your Infos are very interesting - like it and hope I see you this year with more of them
Happy New Year to you and yours too! Great scenery!
Very good light and scene.
Yes good light, and super posing of the "people",in interesting thoughtful (if somewhat tired, in the case of the human) attitudes. perhaps the metalic creature is wondering why humans behave so strangely, and the human is exhasperated at being stuck in this forsaken outpost...
Awesome lighting!
Great mix of figures and props Craig, the lightplay in this really sets the mood for the scene!Happy New Year my friend!
Very nice sf scene.

The concept of alien did not begin to describe their differences. ..... I have no idea beyond that. Conversation just wasn't coming to me. I have a nice twisty ending, but the middle of the story is beyond vague. LOL! Hope you enjoyed that snippet! Happy New Year, my friend. I hope 2011 is good to you! >:D<
Superb sci-fi!
Stunning use of light; fine modeling and texturing.
the way Rendero works makes it hard to communicate through the images.. as we can only put one comment at each.. but thanks for the nice ones you leave behind.. much appreachiated.. now that i am "off season" i try to comment as much as possible at people's art, as when the tourists come again.. time will be limmited again.. but i always try to see as much as possible.. this image is top.. love it how you were able to put the backgroud figure in such light, that the head comes before the shadow.. very nice for the contrast. the lady in front shows hopelessness. as if she ran... and ran only to find out the robot has a better condition and got her..
Happy New Year to you too! Wonderful sci-fi scene and I love the story I'm forming in my head for this one. The lighting sets the mood here so perfectly. Very excellent work. I'm off to see part 2.
Happy New Year too awesome work warm hugs, Linda
Extraordinary Tara!Superb
(sorry for the excess ebots: My italics turned the whole comment into italics. I think I fixed it this time.) Well, I'm finally getting to this series, well over a year late. When this went up, I was on my way to my father in his final months. And you know, in some ways I think my hesitance to come here and comment was partly because it unfolded at such a hard time for me. I'm sorry about that, esp to you Craig, as I haven't given any real heart-to-heart response to your wonderful gallery in a long time. But somehow this tale---which I really wanted to sit with---was a stumbling block for me because it was associated with the very distance, with my father's increasing distance-of-mind, that you portrayed here. ("Three months in Macali's company had not produced either friendship or animosity. They understood each other in a limited way"...etc) (effective writing, btw, as is the bleak mysterious image). I think sounded so close to what we were feeling w/my Dad, this wonderful tale just stopped me (even though I saw several installments). Well, a year later, I'm here; and I'm very happy to engage. Forgive my absence, it wasn't about you but bout me... Yes, the visual calls out for a tale. It has questions built into it, strange mysteries, and disconnections that want to be explored. I really like the wide layout of your image, Craig, and how much you bathe it in shadow. Also, the harsh light (which makes the shadow in the background so harsh) makes it more of a "what's going on here" image; and I love the machinery on the far right. (Ie, very self contained but we don't know what it's for.) And Margaret seems to be lost in herself when Macali enters. Your visual sets up the tale, Craig, and would be very enticing all by itself. And Tara, your way of setting up a scene in 1 paragraph is impressive, even moreso because your major writing has been poetry, if I'm not mistaken. You get a lot of clear character 'collision' in a small space, and you etched-out the disconnect and then you finished. Very compacted emotion. FIne work on your end too. Just some tidbits: "Margaret" means pearl. You may or may not have known that (or cared, lol), but given the unusual names here, I thought it might be of interest. The only meaning i can find for "Macali" is a tree that gives us quinine. (!) (Well that makes things clearer!) I don't know, the name is so unusual, I wondered if you had anything in mind with it, either of you. That's all my tidbits. Finally: I'm going from installment to installment, and if they're that alien I'm waiting for something to be revealed here, so don't let me down lol. If this ends w/ a song & dance, I'm gonna be pretty upset...(Really, if you guys introduce Jerry Lewis into this, I may have to leave rr...) Ok, onto part II!!!
