Description
My first snow, young cow in the dunes.
In the dunes between Noordwijk and Zanvoort (see my yesterday posting) there is a large herd of cows, including some impressive bulls. This herd is wandering around, freely, the whole year around in this area. The animals are very friendly and not aggressive at all, but they keep a bit of a distance but you still can touch them (but it is better for them to leave them alone). With this cold they like the hands of humans because they are looking for salts.
Their function is to maintain the area, to keep the grass under control and other small plants as well. They are not used for the production of milk nor meat.
This young one was born late summer, and most likely over looked, because she didn’t had any yellow tag in here ear!!
For sure this is her first snow in her life!!!
Thanks for all your kind comments on my yesterday posting!!
