Description
King Alfred II is upset with his youngest son, Prince Roger. The young prince is the talk of the court gossips because he is infatuated with a common miller's daughter. Rumor has it that he spends his nights at the mill down by the river and spends his days mooning around the castle and fretting for the night to come.
King Alfred would like his son to have his mind more on the manly arts of making war and of ruling. It was time the lad settled down to his responsibilities, fumed the King. Although third in line for the throne, those who led the armies had a high risk of dying in these uneasy times. Alfred had already lost his first-born, Louie, in a border skirmish last year. It was very possible that Roger could become the heir apparent and he was simply not ready for the responsibility.
Yes, thought the King, I'm definitely going to have to talk with the boy!

Like the mood in this...has the look of a medieval painting...nicely done!
Nice image and sky! Geeze, the monarchy should encourage unions outside the nobility. Keeps them from getting to be inbred, buck-toothed, drooling hemophiliacs.
Nice composition and sky. It looks like its going to be raining later in the morning. One small criticism: A peasant girl would NOT be wearing a purple dress. The dye cost too much, even a queen might not be able to afford a solid purple dress. The dye came from extracting a fluid from a gland in a marine snail Murex brandarius. The shell is only about 3 inches long so it took a lot of shells to make the dye for one dress.
