Close up of a large specimen of Amethyst, which has gone through two periods of formation, the large Crystals first, then at a later date, the micro Crystal forming on top.

wow...lovely pic!! I didn't realize that crystals went through stages...but then I haven't researched much on them...but I have to say that the color of these stones reminds me of grape jelly... Very beautiful!

Grape Jelly, LOL! ;D I suppose when it's sitting there in chucks. This is sometimes refered to as Cactus Quartz formations, beautiful specimen and great capture! :D

Gorgeous amethyst! :) Amazing combo of fruitcakes and grape jelly! ;) ... i mean, wonderful combo of big and micro crystals! First time i see this.
