Description
This is a re-working of Giants, an image I made almost a year ago to the day. I re-worked it because Neil (grafikeer) and others found the original a little too dark, but then never posted the update. I unearthed this version while transferring my data from PC to my Mac, and thought it was about time these beasts should be allowed to see the light of day...
Vue, no postwork except for signature in Photoshop.

PS. I must apologise for my absence on the site - too many unviewed and uncommented images, and more important, too many unanswered sitemails - I will make an effort to remedy both shortcomings this week... Work always gets in the way of real life :o(

very nicely done!
super looking image!
Wonderful work!
Love it...and thanks for the dedi! The mood and soft lighting work very well,I get a sense of it being an early morning setting before the heat burns off the coolness of the night...nicely done Craig!
Looks great, Craig. The tree in the bg looks like its reaching out for them. Not wanting them to move on. ")
Beautiful and realistic scene!!!
beautiful scene !
A short visit and comment to your image which I like very much. I will be back in early December, creative and visit by then of course your Gallery
Very nice!!!
Very good render. I checked the early version too. Different lighting gives a different atmosphere. Walking in the setting sun is more appealing to me.
Beautiful! Wonderful done mood and scenery.
Very nice work! I love the tones!
Walking off into the sunset, great image
Nice one .... I like the sunset lighting !
GORGEOUS!!!
Very nice image.
Great light now here - it has the mood of the sundown and its really a great scene for the three pachyderms. Like it very much.
Very good work!
Excellent composition !!!!
I saw the previous version, and it really was a different piece. Yes it's darker; though it has the feel of a journey in deep afternoon shade, and it has a certain mystery for that reason. But this is a transformation, not just a lightening: The elephants are now a beautiful deep ochre, like the autumn setting sun has fallen all over them; the trees have taken on an autumnal tinge (oranges & slight yellows mixed into their greens); and your mist is beautifully mystical in the background. It feels very primal. Very nice detail on the animals, but not so heavy as to break the dreamy patina of the whole. And it feels the way some of us remember elephants the few times we've seen them in the wild: a herd of slowly migrating mountains, moving slowly & surely because they don't have to move for anyone, and moving like creatures who contain the memory of all species in their heads & can glide through nature without a care. (Buddhists & Hindus have many such legends of the meditative appearances of the pachyderm.) You probably know, as a biologist, that pachyderm means 'thick derma' (I know that from language studies); and the thing is, these are thick-skinned, but they feel a little like mounds of dark ochre light. And this version of the piece has a deep warm presence that the other version wasn't about. Another very thoughtful piece from you, Craig...
