Description
This is the mythical bird, the Phoenix, from Ken Gilliland's outstanding Birds of Legend.
I have loosely portrayed the Phoenix in one of it's descriptions by the Roman poet, Ovid, as related in Ken's tutorial. Where the fabled bird is said to build a nest in the branches of an oak & on being reborn from the body of it's parent, a young Phoenix issues forth.
Thank you for your visit & comments!

Wow...what a fantastic image. I love the colors. Looks superb!!
Yes! A Phoenix; I knew it instantly! As a young man in my teens I read Edward Ormondroyd's wonderful book "David and the Phoenix". It is one of the best children's books ever written. I have been in love with everything Phoenix ever since. Your rendering is utterly magnificent and calls to mind the magical qualities of that mythical, mystical, creature. Stupendous work! Well done!

You're a very eccentric artist in the flavors of all sorts as my friend. Beauties. What else to say except give in to the enjoyment of a look. Contemplating the divine pleasure to the eye.
