Description
These were the biggest trees around and sure enough the cattle were using them for shade even though today's high was only 80F. Rainbow Valley, Maricopa County near Phoenix, Arizona.
Picture was taken on 17 November 2010.

At 80F you'd find me in the shade too! LOL! I know you were probably shivering in your sweater, but 80 is certainly warm enough for me to seek a cooler comfort. Smart cattle!

Wow, a cold spell!!! Its worse toward Yuma!! Good thing its nicer and there are more real trees south of Tucson. Actually, about 150 miles north of where this is, you will find mountains with Douglas Furs! Eh, those "trees" are Palo Verde "trees". Excellent shot of the "wide expanse" we see in the deserts.
