Description
The grounds and gardens surrounding the main buildings of the Hearst estate are full of statues and other works of art. Some are originals and some are copies. This appeared to be a bronze copy of Myron's Discobolus (Discus Thrower) which is one of the most famous Classical Greek statues, held up as a masterpiece of Greek Art. Myron completed the bronze original circa 460-450 BC. It is known through numerous Roman copies, full-scale statues in marble or bronze. Some info from Wikipedia and photo recently scanned.
