Description
A view from a hypothethical double planetary system nearby the Eight-Burst Nebula or NGC 3132. This piece of celestial eye candy lies some 2000 light-years from our Sun in the Vela constellation. It is the product of a dying star that is shedding its outer layers.
From our point of view, we see it as if we are looking down the barrel of a gun. Seen from its "side", it would have two bell or cone shaped lobes spreading away from a bright central point.
Single render in Terragen 2 with an image mapped background of a Hubble pic that I heavily reworked.
Thanks for looking in!

Super cool stuff! Awesome composition.
I've never tied the background conversion to an image yet; looks like fun. In all, a great concept and imaginative creativity ...I like this one Rich.
Yeah, you gotta share this technique...looks great!!! PM me on how you do it!!!
Looking down the barrel of a gun is exactly the right analogy - this planet/moon is toast! Excellent.
Wonderful effect in the background.... fabulous pic
