Description
Colostethus talamancae is a species of frog in the Dendrobatidae family. My wife found it in, Costa Rica. On a walk way through a dense humid, steaming hot rain forest. It was amazing she found this little frog because it was less than a half inch tall, even less than a centimeter!! Despite their size, they are rather poisonous but not fatal to human beings!!
It was day time, however at the bottom of a rainforest it is rather dark!!!
Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, rivers, swamps, and heavily degraded former forest. It is threatened by habitat loss.
Costa Rica lies squarely in the tropics, at a crossroads connecting North and South America. This "rich coast" country, is bordered to the east by the warm Caribbean, and the Atlantic Ocean, and to the west by the Pacific Ocean. In between these coasts, lie lowland jungles, mountain forest draped in mosses, alpine tundra, and dry forest--and all adorned with anurans (frogs and toads that is).
