Description

The sunset is actually three mountain ridges beyond the other side of the valley. From the valley floor, you will not see the more distant mountains. On a planned holiday of several days, we had one and one half days of overcast sun. The remainder was howling wind and rain. The wind atop the mountain moaned and whistled while blowing the rain in often horizontal directions. For this photo, we were blessed with a short time of cloud cover blowing away, rain ceasing and the sunset visible. Soon the valley was totally obscured by cloud cover and we were again in the rain. We must appreciate nature in what it gives us..avoiding dangerous events if possible and finding some awe in the forces at work, suiting our schedules or not. I am trying to do that. : ) The young white tailed deer in my previous upload was taken during the one full day of no storm, our first day.
