Actually the truth of this shot is that we were on our way home from a week of continual rain in Glencoe and as we came over Rannoch Moor there cam one of the most amazing skies I have ever seen. The road over the moor is a two way traffic very busy and always seems to have drivers with a death wish coming the other way so there was nowhere to pull over. By the time I had seen a place to stop and get into a decent spot on the moor the light had changed and this amazing gold sky had gone. No need to write what I said then but I wandered around in a rather forlorn manner and came across this scene which in the end was better than nothing. I was pleased with the outcome after I ran it through Photoshop and done my usual tweaks.
actually, it's how the sky works with the foreground that impresses me about this image. the trees form one portal, and the clouds invert it. and i agree on the zoom.
