Description
Taken in the minutes before sunrise when the first rays of the sun were touching the top of Mauna Kea.
The shot was made with a wide angle lens. Both the big vulcanoes are visible - Mauna Loa (left) and Mauna Kea (right).
Also visible is the multitude of side craters/cinder cones along the slopes of Mauna Kea.
It must have been spectacular to watch eruptions from this spot back in time, if it had been possible...

very lovely
The tones in this picture are fantastic--what a tender dawn.
A very special one. Definitely one for you to remember for a long time.
Calmness and a danger in one excellent shot:)
gentle view. Well done.
Lucky you!!! beautiful spot.
Fantastic capture and composition
Has a nice mood to this one. The little Island on the lower right is called Coconut Island. At one time, there was people living on that little island. But after the tidal wave, they had to move out. In 1984, Mauna Loa (mountain on the left) did erupt sending a river of lava towards Hilo town. Luckily it stopped short of Hilo. Nice capture... Aloha
