Description
We made it through Earl- which was downgraded and then upgraded to a 1 again once it hit us here in Halifax- didn't do much damage other than downing trees and we lost power for almost 10 hours....
And the worst of it all is that a young man lost his life trying to help a friend with his boat.
They had 20 feet to get to his friends boat that was against the rocks- they swam to it and made it there and got everything set and fixed- Both men decided that instead of waiting it out in the boat that they would swim the 20 feet because they made it the first time...And to make sure that they have a better chance they donned a life jacket each...Yet even with all that- the young man didn't make it to shore...Earl and the sea took his life!
So sad when things like that happen...you just wonder- what if they waited those extra few hours on the boat?

This is gorgeous. Very sad story. We did not get any backlash from Earl here in Michigan, although we do get storms sometimes from those hurricanes.
That is so sad, but he is a true hero. To me that is what a hero is, someone who isn't being paid to risk their life for a job, but someone who from their heart with nothing to gain and everything to lose risk their life for another life. His family should be proud for he was a great man. I am glad you and your family are safe. Ten hours without electric... ouch. Your image is gorgeous.
A beautiful image that is a feast for the eyes! It sad to learn though, how our living with the occurrences of Mother Nature sometimes lead to hurt.
