Description
It seems that we humans have a built in Us/Them view of the alien other that is extremely strong. So much so, that we even apply it to other humans and societies that are the least bit different from that in which we were born.
Need an example? The Human Race. There is only one. No more, no less.
Nevertheless, God help you if you should have dark skin, or slanted eyes, or rounder faces than the majority of people around you. Visa versa, if you should be light-skinned, have light straight hair, and smaller lips in a land of dark folks. We can even be the same people living in the same land, but with slightest variations of the same religion and it will be enough of an excuse for one side to commit genocide--the complete extinguishing of the other group.
It is my hope that in the future, Humankind will break the bonds of our cradle Earth and expand throughout our star system and go beyond to explore and settle other distant star systems. It is my despair that we will go without having managed to control that dark impluse to destroy the alien other just because it is different and because we can.
On the other hand, to do so may strike at our fundamental humanness. That impluse--dark as it is--may also be one of the key factors that gives humans their drive to explore and learn and change things. Were we to eliminate that revulsion for the alien other, we might doom ourselves to remaining on this planet and to eventual extinction.
Thanks for dropping by to look and listen to my rant. I always appreciate each and every one of you. Special thanks to my encouragers who leave responses to my previous works and for all of you have added some of them to your list of Favorites.

You rant away! I always do, my friend.. Great picture.. Excellent.. Rob
Let it all out!!!..I'm all ears!....and eyes of course! lol....brilliant work!
Humans, can't live with them, still can't live with them. It is sad that humans seem to be the only creature on the planet that looks for ways to kill off its own kind, and will more than likely find a way to finish the job in the not too distant future. Imho, I believe it will take an event of near extinction level for humans to finally figure out that they are all the same - Humans. Then again, I could be wrong... they may never learn. I'm an advocate fot the negative because people need to hear and heed these things. Those of us who post this kind of work are trying to get people to pay attention to where the world is heading, and hopefully, one or more of us will get through. Nice work Jeremy
HMM!? Rant away dear friend. We all are entitled to an opinion and have the right to express whatever our individual opinions may be. As to one worded "why?" ... I can only reply "History". Love the excellent picture. once again I searched in the bushes for something nasty, other than boot tracks.
My only hope is, that there are still those left, who are curious and open to all things other than they are, open to have a non judging look and trying to learn... Another fine render, Jeremy!
Nice sentiment. I hope we can overcome our darker tendencies... but I do wonder if the reason that we are around, and not the Neandertal or some other cousin, is perhaps because we as a race have enough hatred of the "other" to have wiped out the competition in the past.. the darker side of evolution. Hopefully I'm wrong.
