Description
On the slopes of Mount Arashiyama is the entrance to the smaller Monkey Mountain, also known as the Iwatayama Monkey Park. Passing through the entrance you will hike twenty minutes up a steep trail where you will be met by some 200 Macaque monkeys.

I never got to this place or saw the Macaque monkeys though I later read about them in National Geographic. It made me quite wish I had been better informed at the time. It's wonderful to visit here through your images. Beautiful capture of the entrance! Excellent light! Being late in commenting, I can now go straight to the Monkeys without a wait or a steep hike!
What a great shot with the mountain mist descending over the gate and the light streaming down. It makes it appear to be a steamy jungle. I can hear the monkeys chattering in the background. Wonderful!!!
