Description
This seal is spending time at the Melbourne Zoo being rehabilitated after sticking it's head in one of those plastic things that hold beer cans together. As it grew, the plastic got tighter and tighter and eventually left a huge scar around it's shoulders (which you can see in the first photo). It was great to see it playing and having fun! Once healthy, the zoo will then release it (and many like it) back to the same feeding grounds it was picked up from. This seal is an Australian Fur Seal and was caught near Phillip Island.

Awwwww! Bless and shame it had to go through that ordeal because some tw*t couldn't be bothered to pick up his or her rubbish and take it to a bin or home! My idea is simple...Anyone caught doing such things..should have said idem shoved over their head and left on a beach with their hands tied behind their backs for a few minutes! They would not do it again....If their still alive... Am I too cruel... Are we? Great pictures mate (And cool website LIKE!) Rob
A super duo, thanks for the mail, ill be looking in
Wonderful shots and I'm glad that the seal will be released back to the wild. I agree with Rob's idea as well
It's great seeing him so happy now; I would imagine some aren't caught in time to save them. We humans have such an impact on the planet; will we ever learn?
Stunning capture my friend.
The seal shows its appreciation... Nice shot. Aloha
bonne^photo!!
cool capture :-) I like animals
Looks like s/he is healing well and hopefully released soon. Sweet collage and share Andrew. Dana
beautiful! sweet too :) sad story though.. :(
We have a wonderful seal sanctuary in Cornwall, but the majority of its inmates are there for life. Some blinded, or simply unable to feed themselves, they are cared for and much loved by those that look after them. Wonderful image. I wish it well. ^=^
