Great shot! Wonderful clarity on the detailing. Grasshoppers/cockroaches ETC always look to me like they were designed by master craftsman from a much more advanced race than our own. There's something amazingly intricate and complex about all the different parts. Nicely captured!

My favorite part of a grasshopper is the mouth. It's SO complicated! I also love the eyes, especially when the grasshopper in question is kind enough to let you get close enough for a decent macro. Chicago grasshoppers are a flighty bunch at times, despite my success at photographically capturing a number of them last year. This year I've had little luck. Oh well...at least you got this beauty, and of course the first thing I did was zoom and look at the mouth-parts (many of which are visible in the most fascinating of ways.) Grasshoppers have such cool knees too! This is a great shot and I'm glad to see it.
