Description

This modell was started by Donald W. Payne of Webster, Texas and he died before he finished it. His widow, Jeanse M. Payne give it to the USS Kidd and they find a ship modeller to finish it. Darryle Averett of Denham, Spring, Louisiana took over and he looked at the notes of Mr. Payan and was in contact with the Cutty Sark museum in England. In six and a halve years it took Mr. Averett to finish it. the piece of wood you see came off the rudder of the real Cutty Sark in 1922. Ship modell in 1/4" scale there is many artists that is on this art site that lives in England and this is for you all. Hope you all go to the Cutty Sark Museum. The USS Kidd wasthe first navy Museum I been to and I hope to go to more of them

Great capture Jock. This is a very detailed and fine model of this beautiful ship. True craftsmanship on the part of the builder. I'm truly awe struck by the people who have the talent to produce something like this. George

Strange, I thought all along that Cutty Sark was just a liquor. Lots of work and dedication went into the construction of the exquisite model, Jock, and you capture it with nice detail.

Wonderful model Jock and thank you for showing us. I thought the figure between the masts might have been the ghost of Donald W. Payne!!!
