Description

well this is another 1st for me .. I have never seen a hummingbird in Toronto ... its not a great photo but I like the composition because it shows how small they are ... of course flying at 100 miles per second doesnt help lol ..its the best I could get ...I was so surprized to see it so that didnt help me take a shot thanks for your comments & favs on my photos have a wonderful weekend !

Hi Lu, my congratulation to this wonderful shot. It is sooo difficult, to photograph such a fast bird. And as result such a good picture of a hummingbird. My camera couldn´t be fast enough - and I am soo slow, ..... so, it is really great. And .... there are so wonderful birds in your country, they don´t live here in middle Europe, they are here wellknown as "Kolibri", all the best Bernd

I have them visiting in large numbers in the spring but by the summer, they have thinned to just the hardy ones that can last in this heat. I still get silly and miss good shots because watching them is almost hypnotic. They have cycles though. If you see one a couple of times in this area, you can almost time their return for another "drink." Mine have a 20-minute cycle from their nest back to my garden. If I set up my tripod and point at the suspect spot, I can wait for the return flight and usually get at least one decent shot. If you see one again, sit and wait for 30 minutes and see if in that time it returns. If so, set up the camera and see what you can get. :-)

You did very well. They visit my yard, mostly spring and fall, but I never have a camera handy or by the time I do they are gone! :)

I think this is a wonderful capture. We have hummingbirds in our yard, and they do not appear until I go into the house, so not a chance of catching them with the camera, unless I'm more lucky than previously. ;o) I love hummingbirds, and would love to capture one for a photo.

You've done very well. I've seen them around my place a few times but even it I was holding a camera in my hands they would be gone by the time I raised it to my eye.
