Description
Marblehead, Massachusetts has a light instead of a lighthouse. This station was established in 1835, the present lighthouse built in 1896 and automated in 1960. Construction - cast iron, height of tower is 105 feet and the height of focal plane is 130 feet. The present optic is 300 mm and is fixed green. There is a spiral stairway with 127 steps, to the landing, below the lantern level. Info from their web site.
You can clearly see that the flagpole is plumb but the light tower is not.

How very different! Not the same as the whole tower thing most people have but really interesting and apparently very sturdy.
