Description
This is the main hall of the Sensō-ji (Kinryū-zan Sensō-ji) an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Taitō, Tokyo. The first temple was built on the site in 645, which makes it the oldest temple in Tokyo, and one of its most significant. The temple is dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon, also known as Guan Yin or the Goddess of Mercy. The smoke you see is from burning incense.

I am enjoying this series very much! This is a beautiful temple and image! Wonderful detail and capture of the smoke! Though I didn't get to this temple, you have captured well the atmosphere of a mixture of the religious feeling, and busy thoroughfare that I remember in other temples. One moment I was out in the crowd and the next had found a shadowed corner where the spiritual beauty of a temple came through. Beautiful shot!
