Description
So whats all that about I here you ask!
This is actually a piece of modeling using a technique I`ve been working on.
Ive spent a lot of time working out how to convert simple vector shapes into extruded objects and then placing then on a 3D plane
and extracting the shapes out of it!
The BG (in Blue) was done on a 2D plane
using the shape as a Alpha. I don`t know if
that explains it, but that`s about it!
The problem is I have to use ai files for
the extrusion and don't have Illustrator and
there is no straight forward simple conversion tool for converting PNG, WMF to Ai files. I`ve down loaded a ton of shareware and managed to convert from one format to another then open in another program to import and export again.
The simple answer is, I need to buy a version of illustrator if I`m going to bother continuing with the technique.

My good friend, some technique, Great! Reminds sort of, growing the NW (Washington State) of fine Indian art thats so beautiful! Very much like this graphic!!
Illustrator is a neat program but takes a lot of patience with the bezier curves. Great for creating logos too! Nice technique, Nick.
Lol - it's really difficult to see that old bugger - nice work Nick! Hug's Ute
man to do the right work you need the right tools thats for sure. it depends of course how much the conversion is worth to you. i guess everybody has to check that balance for himself as we are each defferently approaching various rechniques.
You're right, it looks like puzzle for monkeys! ;o)
Nick I have illustrator so not sure if this will work. I just saved a PNG file as a PSD then exported paths to illustrator. This gave a AI file. But as I said this maybe because I have illustrator on my system. Hope this is the answer for you
To use Illustrator files in Cinema 4d they have to be saved in Illustrator 8 format. Maybe you can pick up a copy of Ill8 cheap.
Illustrator is fantastic wouldnt be without it..try get an old version on ebay and upgrade or not...lol
je n'utilise pas illustrator,bonne image!!
Cool!!!!
Nice one!
Impressionante criação meu amigo, excelente trabalho, aplausos (5)
Very impressive image here, great POV and concept, congratulations!
The monkey isn't the only one that's puzzled. Now I feel dumb. I don't understand it, but its very cool. Lmao! ;)
Have you tried a program called Inkscape? It's an open source answer to AI.
Very cool and creative work!!
Cool work. Don't know why that adobe software is so darn expensive. You would figure they would lower the price so more people could afford it. Hope you find what you need.
Fantastic my friend, very creative!!!! Hugs:)
Very creative image! Great lighting, colours and background! Well done.
WOWWWWWWWWWW !!!!!!!! FANTASTIC, SUPERB , GREAT WORK !
Brilliant work!!!
nice job. Also for vector stuff you might check out XaraXtreme or now called Xara photo a graphic designer 6 which a lot of folks like. (I almost went into this area with the idea that an image could be turned into a vector and that in turn could be turned into an object -- my goal was spider webs - but I ended up in a different direction). Cool digging!!
Very cool work Nick! I'm puzzled too!
A super image and how clever to do that background it is very impressive. I hope you keep trying these as it looks great.
Fabulous modeling work, Nick!
Yes, very cool technique. Nicely done. Illustrator is very handy.
I don't understand it but what wonderful results!!

Really nice work. But you should not hazzle with converters.
