Description
On a hot sunny day, it’s a real treat to enjoy a delicious salted herring, after a bike tour.
A typical Dutch delicacy is Hollandse Nieuwe (Dutch New), which is raw herring from the catches around the end of spring and the beginning of summer. This is typically eaten with raw onion.
The soused herring (maatjesharing in Dutch, or matjes in German and Swedish) is an especially mild salt herring, which is made from young immature herrings.

Nice shot! I'll have to take your word on the herring, LOL. I'm not a big fish lover, unless it is haddock/cod/filet of sole....my husband says I'm a fan of fish that doesn't taste like fish, LOL.
