Description
These small hawks are fascinating and very energetic. In captivity, they are easily stressed and the hot weather has not helped. I shot a natural light photo and left the bird alone. This one will be released back into the wild quite soon. I hope I can be there to see it fly away.
The colors on my monitor and in camera are quite true to this hawk. The back is gray. Juveniles have greenish yellow eyes and the rich red is gained with maturity.
Sigma 105 macro used as prime, f/2.8, 1/180 sec,
ISO equiv. 400.
