Another Star Trek image. Couldn't quite get the fire planet just right.

Very good visuals and title! Great render! Im a big fan of Trek and really enjoy your work. Takes me back to watching Kirk swashbuckle through the galaxy. Hide your women!
Good idea about the fire planet.
The fire lines are WAY too clean. You need to dirty the whole planet up SMudge the ambient texture for the planet to put in more variation. You could stick a cloud layer on it,too. that would add texture to the non-fire areas. Some displacement would add mountains to the surface,too. Your planet is a bit too smooth to be believable. That is probably why it doesn't look quite right. I wrestled with planetary textures a lot and those are my two cents on it. I hope that helps a bit. ^__^
