Description
San Francisco’s fisherman’s Wharf is a big tourist attraction for its shops and restaurants. My favorite part is the abandoned docking floats. Sea Lions invaded the floats and because they were protected, eventually drove out the boat owners. They can be very aggressive and this posting is the results.
Photo taken in the early 1980s, with a hand held film camera and recently scanned.

LOL, I've seen these guys lying around so lazily in the sun; the smell is something else, as is the noise! They're fun to watch. Great capture!

I remember when there were actually boats tied up to these docks and the occasion seal was considered an oddity and attraction. Just a few months ago the majority of the seals disappeared from the docks - I understand they've come back.

What? Early 1980's? I don't recall there ever being THAT many back then. But, could have been a day I wasn't there. Aggresive? If you get too close they'll protect their territory, all right. And, if they have young ones - watch out! Quite a tourist attraction today, I'm told. Thanks for the image from "home" - I'm in Europe now. Keep up the good work. :)

They look like a very friendly bunch to me, just having a snooze. Seems to me they are just reclaiming their own property with the upgrades intact. Wonderful picture.
WOW! Have a sea lion, LOL. I had heard they commendeered the docks for themselves. Looks like they're pretty darn happy! Great picture from the 80's

Exceptionally cool clarity in this unique shot of the laid-back bunch, Dana. I'm glad you identified these guys because I thought at first these were jumbo yams on trays. There must be tons of sea lions out there. Must be deafening when they all wake up at once and start barking.
