This shot is for my friend Nancy, who is always on my case about why don't I take more bird pics. I have explained to her that I don't really have the proper equipment to do this. My 200mm lens does not reach out far enough to get a crisp detailed shot of something as small as a bird and very few birds let me get close enough for the 200mm to work. One day I will get a 400mm or so lens but for now, I just have to wait for lucky occurrences. Today's post is the result of a lucky occurrence. I was sitting still waiting for a Dragonfly to come back to his perch and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a flash of color fly by. I turned slightly and this female Tanager landed on a twig about 20 foot away.I managed to get three shots before she flew away. I like the composition of this image and the colors but unfortunately, the image is not very sharp. It looks OK on the computer screen at this size but it lacks sharpness. Despite its flaws, I am happy I got the shots. Summer Tanagers are very colorful songbirds. The male is bright red and is in fact, the only entirely red colored bird in North America. I see them occasionally as they fly about and I hear them frequently. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee
