Description

This is another gargoyle decorating the gothic cathedral of St. Vitus in Prague. It isn't a realistic photo, but a collage. In fact the gargoyle is much higher, situated on the same level as the two drake gargoyles you can also see. But I wanted to capture the impact it made on my imagination, so that this image tries to seize the emotion of the discovery, when I saw the archer with the dead boar at his feet, an image of by-gone days, when people had still to hunt their meal. And I also wanted to convey the sheer verticality of the building, which blends smoothly the religious impetus with the more prosaic needs and the carnality of the populace. Thank you for your kind comments.
