Description
Namibia 2010
It is the vast spaces of nothingness that fascinates me and makes me love this country so dearly!
We took 2 trips into the Namib desert. I shot this image on the first trip. (This is north of the Swakop River meaning that there are no dunes.) We actually visited some old mineral mines no longer in use and this was en route. At this stage we were still on a clear road but later on followed a "road" that my brother got from Tracks 4 Africa and uploaded on his GPS! This "road" turned out to be "invisible" and after a few worried hours and some tempers flaring, we reached a clear road again! I thought it was great fun though!
Thank you for your valued comments and favs on my "I see the sea" upload of yesterday!
Stay well!
Hugs
Carin xx

Reminds me of parts of Nevada...and southern California...so barren looking..
Wow! The dictionary definition of 'nothing'. In Arabic Rub' al Khali or Empty Quarter. Amazing image, you are quite brave.
How impressive can nothing be!
Nothingness! (Is that a word?) lol A beautiful picture in its own right.. Nature has its own way of capturing your heart.. Rob
For me the title of "Nothing" is somewhat ironic- such a vaste expanse. This image brings so many thoughts and feelings to mind. Wonderful shot! What a trip you must have had.
wonderful sky!!!! GREAT photo!
yes, you have captured the beauty...
Superb capture Carin. This capture surely portray emptiness. Wonderful find and capture.
Hardscrabble country!
Images like this stir some atavistic Star Wars response in me and I keep expecting to see a Jawa sandcrawler off in the distance. Had I been there, in the very country that doubled for Luke Skywalker's home planet, I probably would have spent a lot of time looking over my shoulder, just in case a band of Tusken raiders were approaching on their big, shaggy banthas! Needless to say, I got lost in this image and all sorts of imaginings before it dawned on me to comment. Funny how that works. I love the solitude you impart here, the calm and stark nothingness. How stunning! I really must visit Namibia. It has become a moral imperative. This is a great shot!
One way to infinity! Extraordinary photo! :)
Even though there is nothing there - the road "snakes" along instead of straight, that’s wonderful. Capturing this photo while looking out over nothing – awesome. Dana
