Description
July 2001 and the crew of the space shuttle Atlantis use the shuttles RMS (Remote Manipulator System)or robotic arm to install the Joint Airlock Module to the International Space Station. Having this module in place now means that both American and Russian astronauts can work outside the station via the stations own airlock rather than having to have the shuttle in place so its airlock can be used.
