Looks like a 4" Mortar.. But thats a box of Machine Gun Ammo at the back! So bit of a mix and some mines by the look as well... Cool if unpleasant (especially the mines!) mix! Rob

Love the post work you have done on this.
It looks like an M1 81mm US mortar of the type issued during WW2. It was replaced by the M29 used in and after Korea. Mortar gunnery is like the rub the tummy while rub the head to adjust the weapons in three dimensions also known as bubble chasing after the two levels.
