Description
These flamingos were looking fairly miserable - their heads turned into the wind. I have captured them in Walvis Bay, Namibia, in March 2009. Truthfully, I was shocked to see so few of them as I have seen this lagoon covered in flamingos years ago. I was told that the are migratory, so hopefully it was just the wrong season for them!
I still do not have my Photoshop re-installed so I have to rely on previously worked images!
Thank you for popping in and for your comments and favs om my Upside Down image!
Stay well!

You can rely on this one. It looks so beautiful with the glittering water and I love the POV! A gorgeous capture, Carin.
An excellent shot Carin - love the glittering of the water
Great shot.
Wonderful shot ;) Beautiful light.
Lovely shot, when I was little I didn't like to see birds with long legs, I thought they would snap!!!!! :o)
beautiful !
Wonderful shot !!!
An impressive composition!!
SUPERB, GORGEOUS
A very fine photo!
Wonderful reflected light in this lovely image.. As you say usual for thousands of flamingo to be in Walvis bay and now the area is protected since 1995.. But Jackals and Kelp Gulls tends to limit ground nesting birds, so the area is seasonal or a drought area used by the birds.. Pretty smart of them eh!
wonderful scene!!!! Great photo!!!!
A scintillating pic!
Comparable to penguins who turn their bodies under similar circumstances. But I can't recall if it's the front or back that faces the frigid winds in Antarctica. Logic would indicate the back. Lots of stark contrast and an interesting tiered array of lighting and textural effects in this fine foto, Carin!
Beautiful composition & capture! The water sparkle and the Flamingos are awesome.
Wonderful capture!
I love these birds against the sparkling water. Gorgeous image! Full view is magnificant.
This is gorgeous, completely unexpected look at these favorite birds of mine. How I'd love to see the full migration fotos of them--hundreds of those pink feathered beauties all together!!
POV and DOF are supurb in this. Sunch interesting and unique looking birds.
Joli spectacle que ces flamants roses
OMG:a so great photograph!
I can't imagine seeing even one of these in the wild, much less a lagoon covered with them! Great shot, you can almost SEE the wind!
They look like they are taking a nap too! Sparkling, Clive
beautiful and i love the reflection of the sun on the water.
High-rise birds! Awkward on the ground but so graceful in the air. I remember seeing thousands of flamingos at Lake Nakuru, Kenya one December a long time ago. Maybe these are just early birds from there. Another possibility is the development happening at Kamfers Dam. http://www.birdlife.org/news/news/2008/07/kamfers_dam.html I sure hope it's the former.
its so pretty with the water sparkling ! wonderful capture carin !
