Description

Oberscharfuhrer Ernst Barkmann in Panther 401 accidentally found himself as the spearhead of the 2nd SS Panzer Divisions night assault on the crossroads at Manhay. Initially mistaking a lone Sherman of US 7th Armoured Division as that of his own commander, he pulled alongside the enemy tank, and only realised his mistake when he noticed its unusual red interior lights. In a brief close quarter fight he managed to destroy the M4 with the Panthers anti-personnel mortar (Panzergranate) He then proceeded along the moonlit forest roads past a succession of surprised American units to Manhay and on towards Liege, having left several destroyed vehicles in his wake. His appearance caused havoc in the US defences, culminating in a rout. used my Panther A and M4 A3 sherman available in the Marketplace http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=74646&vendor=210421 http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=76257&vendor=210421 Inspired by David Pentland's "Night Drive to Manhay"

What would have happened if they had the fuel?? Shermans and British tanks could not stop these numbers of Panzers... They just ran out of fuel.... What if.... Antwerp... Would have fallen.. Allied main supply port gone.. etc... Great picture... Rob

Very impressed, as lookoo says the way you made the fir trees works well, and I also like the snoaw on the tracks. maybe you could put some on the tank above the mudguards and places like that. Also might be worth trying a little postwork motion blur on his tracks just to see how it looks. Actually I must tell you the rest of the story of that evening. He carried on past about 10 parked shermans who were stunned to see him fly by, a couple of shermans chased him at one point and he fired at them on the move knocking them out. The best bit though I think is that after driving all night, (and crazy encounters) he is totally lost so he pulls the tank up a lane just as the sun is comming up. At this point the whole crew just bale out of the panther and have a smoke! Anyway nice pic, well done...and nice Panther model.

Nice image and thanks for the history lesson. A few notes- need track marks in the snow, paint job on tanks a bit flat/CGI, scene is a bit bright for night. Excellent work on the trees and other scenery. Good job with add-ons to the PzKw-V. Snow on tracks is great. Not only lack of fuel, but better weather permitting air stikes stopped the German advance. Looking foreward to you next posts! :)
