Description

Lockheed F104 Starfighter . The Luftwaffe lost many through crashes hence the nickname the Widowmaker . The joke back in the 70's was if you want to own a starfighter buy an acre of land in Germany . Best wishes for 2010 Cheers

A most splendid photo and history! Just looking at the design, certain features seem to lend themselves to failure. Like the huge opening in the back. It looks big enough to drive a garbage truck into! Makes a great museum piece though and excellent 'deteriorating plane' scene!
