If you are familiar with my gallery here, you'll see what I mean regarding the title. ;)
Raytraced fine, 4 pixel smoothing, NO anti-aliasing.
Post work consisted of softening the glass and shadows a tiny bit using Gaussian Blur and "darken" merge, then added border, and optimized.

Howie, this is just beauuuuuuutiful. The reflections and the metallics are perfect...but you know me...a sucker for anything metallic...and you have those pencils down pat my friend. Fabulous work as usual.
This is a wonderful render Howie. Although I think your title aptly describes the rendering of real life objects, or striving to capture realism, it or they are no less real art when one takes into account that each component was created in a 3D program, then textured and colored. To do so makes you just as much an artist as anyone who paints on real canvas, maybe even more so, because you achieve a level of realistic interpretation that many regular artists can only dream of replicating. Those mechanical drafting pencils are magnificently re-created, and I love the Laurentian Blue of the table top. Excellent work!
