Description
The Frari’s Basilica. A precious painting of THE VIRGIN MOTHER OF MERCY, perhaps an ancient altar antependium (detail). It depicts the Vigin, Moter of Mercy, who protects the faithful under her cloak. It was done by an anonymous Venetian painter of the 15th century. The work’s value and beauty lie in the evocative, historic landscape.
