Sub-tropical Gothic...? If there was ever an island with unquiet ghosts it would be Easter Island... I've wanted to do a tunnel picture for a while now and its taken some fiddling with lights and so forth. This fictitious scene imagines a spooky lava-tube decorated with "Bird Man" wall paintings deep under Easter Island and was suggested to me by an episode in the early months of the First World War, when a number of German warships visited Easter Island while evading the British fleet. The Intelligence Officer of the light cruiser SMS Dresden was one Luetenant Canaris... Later, as an Admiral, Wilhelm Canaris would rise to prominence as head of the Abwehr, the German military intelligence service and, paradoxically enough, arch-conspirator against Hitler and the Nazis. so, I think he'd be exactly the kind to sniff out adventure on Easter Island if there was an "adventure" to be had. Thanks for viewing. The old lantern came from Share CG (Doodler). I've retextured it and used a Poser material to "fresnel" the glass. I modelled the German WW1 naval cap previously in Shade 7LE. The tunnel was modelled in Shade 8 and rendered with the figure (M3 with M3 tunic) in Poser 6, using amongst other things, a "point" light source inside the lantern. Postwork in photoshop added the flame, aged/scratched up the glass, fixed some seams in the tunnel texture and added some details to the tunic.
