Description
Brantome is a beautiful village in the Dordogne region of France. The central part of town is effectively an island surrounded by the river Dronne & linked to the mainland by several bridges. There is a Benedictine Abbey in the town that was originally founded in 769 by Charlemagne (though it has been destroyed & rebuilt several times over the centuries) & has some adjoining caves that contain some very interesting old rock carvings dating from the 15th century. I will post a picture of one of them tomorrow...

wonderful view!RS
Really enjoying the photos from your trip. I hope you were able to sample some quality wine as well! :)
Great shot! :)
Thanks for sharing these special places I'll probably never get to see in person! I'll travel vicariously through you!!!! Excellent shot!!!!
This looks like a stunning place. Great capture! Clive
Refreshing capture, thanks.
great!!
Wow, that's inviting! An Abbey with "secret" caves and the sounds of a nearby river. Looks like a great place to wander! Would make a great model, too! Thanks for sharing it.
Kort - Yes, I did get to sample some very nice wines while in France. Though I don't normally drink wine with every meal, with soft drinks & juices priced at between 3 - 5 euros ($4.50 - $7.50 - for a Coke!), we ended up drinking a carafe of wine at pretty much every lunch & dinner. And we also did some wine tasting in the Bourgogne (Burgundy to Americans) & Jura regions, which are known for their distinctive wines.
Indeed, Brantome is a beautiful place!
Superbe, tu me donnes le goût de partir... :)
Beautiful. The original is a very nice shot, the postworked one is a great work. Bravo
