5X5! and yes Support the Troops!
Excellent work with candid sci-fi mood! 5+
Superb work, the high contrast lighting gives the ship a sense of being in space as well as her mass. One of the better ship models here, with proper lighting and presence. Yet as a Veteran of this war, I must object to the hypocrisy in your statement. If you support the troops, then you must support the mission, you cannot have it both ways. Think how absurd this statement is: "I support our doctors, but I am against curing cancer!" Many in uniform see this ignorant statement as a backhanded slap in the face. Many are resentful and have very bitter feelings towards those back home that "do not get it" in our opinion. I used to get so angry when I saw news reports of peace protests where that saying was their mantra. You have no idea how damaging that was to morale, a lot of men left the service, myself included, due to no longer wishing to risk our lives for a people who did not support us. Funny, now that george w. bush is no longer the commander in chief . . . no more protests . . . I have been called a babykiller and murderer. I openly laughed in that fool's face, asking if they knew the date and if lyndon b. johnson was president. And you are, of course, fully entitled to your thoughts and opinions. I am in no way suggesting that you need to justify your feelings to anyone, and certainly not to me. I no longer get angry at hearing any of it. Though I am still bitter. I will not fight nor risk my life for anyone else ever again . . .
http://iava.org/ Roundhammer: Thanks for your service. Are you saying that if one doesn't support a particular war our troops have been sent to that they can then not support our troops? Can one not love their child while not supporting their endeavors? What if one thinks their beloved one is going down the wrong track? Should they remain silent and dishonest? As far as supporting a mission, many folks in my area would like to know exactly what the mission our troops have been given in specifics. In talking to vets from all stripes in my area, I've found that I can't get a clear answer from them on that mission statement. In fact, that question brought up heated discussions from all who served heroically. As a person from the Vietnam era who saw returning troops not treated well upon their return, I understand how you and others can feel resentful. However, I also find it very plausible that peace is a concept that any soldier or non soldier should find worthwhile pursuing. Even in times of war. I don't find the two feelings and concepts as exclusive of the other. As one who hate politics, I think that if the current Afghanistan war continues with increased troop levels and durations and repeated tours of duty and life and limb losses, there will be more protests even under our current president. My apologies for folks calling you or anyone who served baby killers or any other names. Idiots who say such are simply that to me. Idiots. Yes, you do get angry at hearing such above. Bitter is just another code word for it. And, given what you experienced, which these days, few do anymore, you have a right to be such from my viewpoint. Finally, I don't believe your last statement. People like you, good people, who did what you did, just don't quit on humanity because of the idiots in it. Thanks again for your service on our behalf on this veteran's day. Most folks I know in my area, regardless of their policy or war beliefs, do support our troops in some manner the best they can and know how these days and times. I hope that you realize that. Don't let the politics of the times destroy that concept.
Thank you LilRedWagon for understanding my point. And RoundHammer, you are 100% wrong. You can support the troops, but not the war. It's the soldiers, our boys and girls we send out who risk their lives, to fight and die, and go through all sorts of hell that no one can imagine. But are those who are sending these heroes out justified in their deaths? THAT'S the question. My friend, Dennis, said that anyone who doesn't understand the statement of the title of this picture says something about the person, and it's in the negative.
As a former Marine, and a vet myself, I think i understand what Roundhammer is driving at, however i also disagree with him. I am a Somalia vet, and unfortunately we were just forgotten about. this does make me somewhat hurt, however it has been the Viet Nam vets that have helped me through. every time one offers his hand and says "thank you". something, that they never received...which i found shameful. the Viet Nam war was not a just war, however it was most unjust to the military heroes that served, we forgot about our own fathers, brothers sisters and friends. i disdain war, and find it an absolute waste of our brightest. i do also know that sometimes it is unfortunately necessary. i pray for the healing touch to you Roundhammer. and i do believe you can support the troops without agreeing with the war. however if you do disagree with the war, keep in mind we must also make sure that while or service members are there, they have to be able to complete their missions without the rug being pulled out from under them. ie not receiving the material etc.. that they need. and i am affraid that happens way to often due to political whims. as to the wonderful enterprise....Gene would have loved it my friend. -jeff
wonderful
Great lighting!
