Description
Spotted this family of Black-bellied Whistling-Duck family this morning, at Green Cay, west of Delray Beach, Florida. My bird field guide says that their year round range is the east and west coasts of Mexico. They are 21 inches (53cm) long. The green coating on the water is Duck Weed. It is a tiny plant that, as you can see, the ducklings are feeding on.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a peak and for all your previous comments and favs.

Duck weed I know but this duck is new to me. I have seen many different species of duck in my wildlife artistry but not this one and it is really interesting. Your capture of the family is great!

What a fantastic shot Dana they look such cute ducks, and pleased you told us the pea soup effect was duck weed, and that the little ones are able to feed on it. Thank you for your support of my little feline Halloween stories, I am so happy that you are enjoying them. Tomorrow (Wednesday) there will be the third part, so I hope you have time to take a peek dear friend. hugs Jane xx

they are beautiful. a weed here often takes over ponds and ruins them
Lovely family scene. Reminds me to post my swan family scene, which I captured a few weeks ago.
What pretty little ducks! I like the section of their necks where the feathers change from grey to brown. They seem to have a feast available. Great capture!
